Q. How do I borrow a book?

Answer

To borrow any items from any library please use the Reserve & Collect Service.

All books must be self-issued so you MUST bring your student card with you to collect items. Library staff will not be able to issue books to your account on your behalf if you do not have your card. If you have not received your student card yet please contact Student Services.

If you are using the Reserve & Collect Service for Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) Library books then you will need to collect them from the Weston Education Centre Library when they become available as the IoPPN Library is currently closed.

If you wish to borrow items from the Maughan collection you MUST use the Reserve & Collect service as there is NO access to the collections held here.

You may also borrow items during a booked study session at Franklin-Wilkins, New Hunt’s House, Weston Education Centre and St Thomas' House libraries however these sessions are in high demand and designed for students who need considerable time to study in the library, they are not designed for short visits to borrow books. Please use the Reserve & Collect service where possible.

Staff on campus will not be able to help answer account queries if books will not issue so please ensure you have checked your library account online and any queries that may prevent you from borrowing have been resolved via our LibAnswers FAQ and Live Chat services before booking your visit to a library.

If you haven't used the Reserve & Collect Service, please see the How do I use the Reserve & Collect Service? FAQ.
