Q. Can I request / reserve books?

Answer

If the book you require is on the shelf and available at any site then please request it via the Reserve & Collect service wherever possible. Please endeavour to request books available on shelves before items on loan, as these may take considerably longer to become available depending on when the current borrower is able to return them.

You may also borrow items during a booked study session but these sessions are in high demand and primarily for students who need considerable time to study in the library, they are not designed for short visits to borrow items. If the book you require is on the shelf and available at the Maughan or the IoPPN library then you will need to use the Reserve & Collect service to borrow it. You will not be able to visit these libraries and get the book off the shelves yourself. While the IoPPN Library is closed, any books requested via the Reserve & Collect Service will be available for collection from the WEC Library.

If all copies of the book you require are on loan then you will be able to request this item via Library Search for pickup at the book's 'home' library - i.e. the library you would need to visit if it were on the shelves. This cannot be changed unless you are registered with Disability Services and have had your library account updated to include the option to pick up books at any library.

We will inform you when the book is available, and you will need to book a Reserve & Collect timeslot to visit the library and self-issue it yourself. You MUST bring your student card with you to the library; staff will not be able to issue books to your account on your behalf. If you do not have a student card please contact Student Services.

If you haven't used the Reserve & Collect Service before please see the How do I use the Reserve & Collect Service? FAQ
