There are many open educational resources available online for undergraduate or graduate level teaching, or self-directed learning. Open educational resources are typically licensed in ways (for instance, using Creative Commons licensing) that allow various degrees of reuse. They are collected by and accessible through different portals such as OER Commons There are various communities of contributors and users, and the aims of the different groups may not always be in alignment. Determining the quality and relevance of these freely available resources is something to be considered.. However, they may prove useful and due to their open nature, can often be improved upon.
