Q. Do you send notifications for renewals, overdue or recalled books?

Answer

It is Libraries & Collections policy to send all notices by email.

Loan Renewal notices:

  • Can remind you about One week loans due back in 2 days' time
  • Can remind you about Four week loans due back in 7 days' time

In short, you will receive two separate loan renewal notices for One week and Four week loans.

  • Are sent by email only: no paper notices are produced and no individual accounts can be set up.
  • Are sent automatically with a 'no reply' function; if you do not receive library notices, please check the junk/clutter folder in your email account, and contact a member of Library staff if this issue persists.

You are advised not to rely solely on these notices as you will still be liable for fines on items returned or renewed late.

Overdue notices:

  • Are sent if your items are not returned or renewed by the due date/time because of an outstanding request from another library user, or for an alternative reason, as indicated on your borrowing statement notice.
  • Are sent automatically when items are 2, 8 and 15 days overdue.

You are advised not to rely solely on these notices as you will still be liable for fines on items returned or renewed late. We encourage all library users to regularly check their account

Recall notices:

  • Inform you when a book you have borrowed has been reserved by another user.

You are advised not to rely solely on these notices as you will still be liable for fines on items returned or renewed late. We encourage all library users to regularly check their account.
