Do you send notifications for renewals, overdue or recalled books?

Answer

It is Libraries & Collections policy to send all notices by email. You are advised not to rely solely on these notices as you will still be liable for fines on items returned or renewed late. We encourage all library users to regularly check their account.

Recall notices:

  • Inform you when a book you have borrowed has been reserved by another user.

Auto- Renewal notices:

  • We do not send automatic renewal notices, as you will be notified if any standard-loan book is due back by our recall notice. You will have 7-days to return any recalled item.

Overdue notices:

  • Are sent if your items are not returned or renewed by the due date/time because of an outstanding request from another library user, or for an alternative reason, as indicated on your borrowing statement notice.
  • Are sent when fines are payable on your account.

Borrowing statement notice:

  • We will send you a monthly borrowing statement, which will list all the items that you currently have on loan, when they are due back and any related fines.
