What’s changing with EBSCOhost databases in summer 2025?
EBSCOhost is a platform that provides access to a wide range of subject-specific databases for both King’s College London and NHS OpenAthens users.
From 31 July 2025, EBSCOhost will be updated with a new look and feel. While the interface and some features will change, the content and access to databases like CINAHL and ERIC will remain the same.
When is the change happening?

What will the new interface look like?
Here’s a preview of the updated EBSCOhost interface:
Which databases are affected?
All databases accessed via the EBSCOhost platform are included. Key resources include:
- CINAHL
- ERIC
- And others listed on the King’s and NHS EBSCOhost databases page.
Do I need to do anything?
For most users, no action is needed—your saved searches will transfer automatically.
However, if you use the Folders function in classic EBSCOhost for search or journal alerts or have important citations saved in custom folders, you’ll need to take action:
Search & Journal Alerts
- Will not transfer automatically.
- To preserve them:
- Open the alert in the classic interface.
- Retrieve and save it as a search.
- After the update, recreate it as an alert in the new interface's MyEbsco personal folder.
Custom Folders
- Will not transfer automatically.
- You have two options:
- Move items from your custom folder to the Saved Searches folder in classic EBSCOhost (which will transfer).
- After the update, go to the Projects folder in the new interface and download a report of your old folders (available until 31 December 2025).
More information on these actions can be found in the relevant support material linked below.
