How do I get a book that is showing as in a store on the catalogue?

Answer

If you wish to consult items held in the closed store, please contact us, or, if you are in one of our libraries, please speak to a member of our team at a Meet & Greet point.

All items such as books, journals or theses that are held in a closed access store are listed on Library Search with the following collection locations:

The Maughan Library

[Sion College Collection – closed access]

[Round Reading Room Store – closed access]

[Thesis Store – closed access]

All other libraries

[Store]

We will try to retrieve items requested by 14.00 (Mon-Fri) on the same day, subject to staffing levels. We will let you know via email when an item is available to collect.

The item is held in the library where the store is located for 7 days. (Please note that due to the nature of the collection, all theses cannot be borrowed and you will not be able to leave the library with these items).

Requesting via Library Search

Library material that is held in a closed access store (except theses) can be requested by logging in to your Library account via the Library catalogue or Library Search:

  • All users can request closed store items that are out on loan.
  • NHS members and those registered with King's Disability Service can request items that are on the shelf and held in stores at libraries other than their home site.
